Military Services Master's Clinical Counselor Duties:
- Responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning,
and treatment of persons seeking professional help for mental
health and co-occurring issues.
- This includes initial assessments, diagnosing, triage/crisis
counseling, and individual therapy.
- Will serve both past or present military personnel and/or their
families. JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARYSummary of role of team:
- It is the mission of our Military Services Program to provide a
broad range of outpatient treatment and assessment services for
those who are experiencing mental health, addiction, or
co-occurring disorders.
- Military Services initially screens individuals from the
community for the presence of a mental health/addiction issue and
possible need for treatment at HRMC.
- Through an initial evaluation with a Master's Level Clinician,
the individual's unique strengths, needs, abilities, and
preferences are assessed, and a treatment plan is developed.
- In addition to the initial evaluation, Military Services
includes crisis counseling and psychotherapy (individual or
family).Summary of position:
- Responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning,
and treatment of persons seeking professional help for mental
health and co-occurring issues.
- This includes initial assessments, diagnosing, triage/crisis
counseling, and individual therapy.
- Master's Level Clinicians may make referrals to services that
each consumer is eligible for as clinically appropriate, triage
consumers who may present in crisis, and work within a team
approach to ensure access to services is efficient and appropriate
at each level of care.
- Masters Level Clinicians maintain a therapy caseload of adults
and children.TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT:
- This position is an office-based position.
- Staff members are provided with all equipment necessary to
perform their job responsibilities in their assigned office or in
and assigned treatment room within the office setting.COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for this position is approximately $52,488 /yr
based on relevant experience and education.Schedule:
- This position has a regular schedule of Monday - Friday 8a.m.
until 5p.m.
- There is no on-call for this position and employee is off on
Center designated holidays.
- In person daily attendance is essential for this position
except in instances of approved time off.
- Part-time option may be available depending on interest.Travel:
- Position does not require transportation of clients.
- This position is primarily housed in Hamilton County, however,
does require travel 1-2 days per week to Outpatient sites located
in rural service areas.
- Services may include: Bradley, McMinn, Polk, Meigs and Rhea
County.
- Some minimal travel may occur for off-site training
opportunities or outreach efforts. Equipment/Technology:
- Position is required to enter clinical information into
electronic medical records software.
- Position requires frequent use of telephone and intermittent
use of telehealth software platform
(camera/speakers).Equipment/Technical Competency:
- Must have excellent computer skills (especially Excel) and the
ability to learn new software products quickly.
- Must be able to complete a large amount of computer data entry
and communication with supervisors daily.
- Should be proficient on a variety of office equipment,
including: copier, scanner, fax machine, computer desktop/laptop,
telephone, etc.QUALIFICATIONS - Credentialing Team
LeaderEducation/License:
- Graduation from an accredited college of university with a
Master's Degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy,
Psychology, Social Work, or other related field of study.
- Eligible for certification and licensure by the State of
Tennessee if such exists or his/her degree/profession.
- Licensed preferred.Experience / Knowledge:
- Must have course work and or experience in the areas of
psychopathology, counseling, theory, cultural diversity, human
development, etiology and treatment of alcohol and drug abuse and
mental illness.
- One-year experience preferred.
- Veterans and those with military experience
preferred.Equipment/Technical Competency:
- This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle
to conduct Center business.
- Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is
a condition of employment.
- This position requires use of a computer, electronic medical
software, and Microsoft Office products such as
Word/Excel/Outlook.Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:
- Exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal and soft tones.
- Close eye work.
- Valid driver's license- "F" endorsement.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and
reaching.
- Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under
pressure.
- The necessary skills for this position include the ability to
demonstrate appropriate boundaries, ability to be an empathic
listener, and flexibility, willingness and adaptability to work
with diverse populations.
- Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and
possess good time management and organizational skills.
- Required to be certified in, and effectively implement, verbal
and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of
bodily movements; including but not limited to, grasping, holding
another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
